Hi Dad!

Today I woke up early and I woke up happy. I saw Puss Blanco right away which made me laugh and giggle a little bit. Just the sight of him is funny to me. Mom put me on the ground to pet him, but before I could do that, I caught a glimpse of dad across the room. I waved to him and slowly said, "hiii daaad". Mom and Dad really reacted to me saying that. They didn't know if I tried it or if it just came out. I'm not sure either if I tried it or if it just came out.

Last night Dad's high school friends came over (Uncle Matt and Aunt Helen and Keith K., who I had never met before). We went out for dinner at Marx Cafe. I had fun playing peek-a-boo with the black napkins. Keith also let me chew on all of his credit cards. I also ate a french fry.

Kites

I went to the National Mall today with mom for the Kite Festival. It's part of the Cherry Blossom festival this week. It was windy - perfect for flying kites. We met our neighbor auntie Kelly and her family down there and went to eat lunch at the cafe at the Museum of the American Indian. I had fun walking around the atrium of the museum after lunch. Dad rode his bike down, met us, and we walked home together. Cousin Zach actually left this morning - he missed his flight home last night!

Puss Blanco's tail makes me laugh

Cousin Zach (Biesanz) has been visiting with us all week - it was fun to see him and all his tattoos. I just started to warm up to him, but he had to leave today to go back to MN. Mom and I went to the park on Wednesday - it was so warm outside! I loved watching all the kids running around and going down the slides. Mom and I went on the see-saw. Two older kids sat on the other side - that was fun, but I got a little bit scared going up so high in the air.
Puss Blanco let me pet him for about 5 minutes straight today. I even grabbed his tail and pulled, and he didn't do anything. We're becoming better friends now that I'm one.

My first taste...

I never imagined I would love carrot cake so much. Happy Birthday to me!

Two videos

We went to a hotel one night during spring break because mom and dad didn't want to set up the tent in 25 mile per hour winds. Here's a video of dad and me playing - he can really make me laugh.

I wanted to put a video of me going under the water, but mom taped for too long (... maybe she'll post it later if she can figure out how to edit some of it out!), so here's a funny video of me about 15 minutes into our bike ride.

My First Birthday

I just had my first birthday and I've decided it's time to start my own blog... mostly for my grandparents to keep up on my daily activities. My first birthday was really fun. I ate a whole cupcake. Carrot cake cupcake. One of the highlights of the day - other than all 4 of my grandparents being at my house - was the balloons. I slept well that night.
That was two weeks ago. Last week, dad had his spring break last, so dad, mom, and I all went to Virginia Beach for the week. It was my first time camping and I loved it. Playing in the sand, eating pieces of mulch, sleeping in my pack n' play in the tent, the sun, the wind, the seagulls, it was all great. I even went swimming twice, and put my head under for the first time. Wow! I didn't even cough when I came back up. Mom and dad were really excited. They videotaped me a lot.
Yesterday was Easter. I actually went to two other first birthday parties! One was at the Building Museum downtown, and the other was up in Tenleytown (the picture is of me and Easter bunny Oscar playing bumper cars with Emilia's new toys). Busy day!
Today was our last day of spring break - Easter Monday. Mom and Dad packed me up in the stroller and we rollerbladed down to Old Town Alexandria. Mom and Dad decided to use their Easter money from Grandmom and Grandpop and go out for a nice lunch. So, the three of us went to the Chart House and sat overlooking the water. I had fish for the first time - yum!
But now I'm exhausted again (it's hard to nap in the stroller when it's windy...and my bath always makes me extra tired), so I'm off to bed. Good night!
